Rod Barajas: Signed one year deal with Mets

Rod Barajas is a good defensive catcher and will be a nice pickup for the Mets. Ideally, Josh Thole should get the job and Barajas can be used as a backup catcher, but he can start if the Mets find the adequate offense in their lineup. Omir Santos, Rod Barajas, and Henry Blanco are similar catchers. Both Blanco and Santos can hit for a higher average than Barajas. Even Thole can handle himself well behind the plate and has the superior bat to any other option. The Mets should invest in a first baseman like Nomar Garciaparra, Rich Aurilia, or Greg Norton.
