Akinori Iwamura is a good defensive second baseman who can bat sixth for the Pirates. I slotted Neil Walker in as the starting third baseman to bat sixth and the Pirates needed both a second baseman and a left fielder. Now filling the second base void, third base is opened up.

Freddy Sanchez: Signed two-year deal with Giants
Freddy Sanchez is a solid number two hitter and a good defensive second baseman. As a second baseman, Scott Downs will not get opportunity in the lineup where he would bat sixth. I had Emmanuel Burriss slotted in the two hole and playing shortstop because he's suitted for that role and is not versatile enough to have any other role. Adding Sanchez adds the need of a shortstop in addition to a right fielder/leadoff hitter.

Jason Bourgeois: Claimed off Waivers by Astros
Jason Bourgeois is a solid defensive outfielder that can play all three outfield spots. In addition, he can bat second in an everyday lineup. With the roster before, Jeff Keppinger could have played second base and batted second, however with Bourgeois playing center field, one from the crop of free agent second basemen would fill the final hole in the lineup.

Alejandro De Aza: Claimed off Waivers by White Sox
Alejandro De Aza will provide good corner outfield defense off the bench. They still have Alex Rios who should play a similar role to De Aza, although Rios is a better defender and can also handle centerfield. White Sox do not have any everyday outfielders.
