Chris Shelton is one of those jack of all trades master on none. Clearly to be a productive starter you must fill a specific role or more than one role. Shelton is just below filling each possible role although would be a very good bench player. He can hit well with power but strikes out a little much. The Astros still need a second baseman and third baseman.
