Luis Hernandez: Signed minor league contract with Mets

Luis Hernandez is a solid major league shortstop. The Mets can start him in the minor leagues, but there are a few of his skills that are translatable in the majors. He is a very good fielding shortstop and he doesn't strike out a lot. If the Mets needed him, he can be defensive replacement in the late innings for shortstop or he can pinch hit because you know at least the ball will be in play. He will not hit for a great average, but it is important for the pinch hitter to make contact because he can get a hit or the defense can make an error.
