Josh Whitesell: Signed minor league contract with Nationals
Josh Whitesell is a good fielding first baseman, but brings nothing productive to the table offensively. The Nationals have Adam Dunn who will start at first and be a key member in the heart of the lineup. Whitesell can be used in the majors as a defensive replacement for Dunn in later innings when the Nationals have the lead. I am still advocating the Nationals trading Ryan Zimmerman for plenty of prospects to deepen the minor league system and bring in a defense oriented third baseman for the season. Geoff Blum, Mark DeRosa, Troy Glaus, Mike Lamb, Melvin Mora, or Juan Uribe would be very good on the Nationals.
