Mike Rivera: Signed minor league contract with Yankees

Mike Rivera is a solid defensive catcher and would be a terrific backup to Jorge Posada, if called to the majors. Rivera brings more to the table defensively than Francisco Cervelli and his defense could make him a starter on teams that have bats in the first six spots. The Yankees would be depending on Posada's bat a bit, so if Rivera wins the backup spot, the Yankees would probably need an additional bat on days Posada is resting, but Rivera will not hurt you behind the plate.
